Intro

Exams Listing

I'll fill all the gaps, links and in-depth breakdowns another day
(*Mutters about White Rabbit as he dashes about* No time, No time...)

Microsoft

Be aware that these things can often be inter-related, thus CompTIA's A+ and Network+ can count toward an MCSE...

If you go through the list of exams you will notice a fair bit of overlap. This is correct. It's pretty much a pick and mix. Basically four MCP's gets you your MCSA, another three and you're a MCSE. Depending on options, only another few and your also accredited with MCDBA, MCSD. Then bite the bullet for MCAD and MSCD.
Bear in mind also that these exams age! They aren't like a degree or a PhD, they are more like a licence, which you have to top up with new exams every so often...

*Grins manically as his brains leak out his ears*

And yes, I know the MS list is ugly. I'll sort it. Really though, this page will date fast so it's always best to go straight to Microsoft to see which exams are current.

Apparently this exam from non profit ISC2 is the mother ticket. Six hours and 250 complex questions. Cheat sheets alone won't get you though this one - You either know it or you don't. And unless you are already a recognised expert, don't bother asking to sit the exam...

Note that as of Fall, 2002, ProSoftTraining, the company behind CIW have good all pear shaped!
Here's what CertCities had to say on the matter. It is interesting to read the Forum notes too, as not a one of them had a good work to say about them. It appears though the Prometric are buying / bailing them out
