Meep!. OK, this is long overdue!

TextPad This is just a text editor! Why is this here then?
Because it's fantastic. Unlike certain bloated word processors it's rock solid and it does everything I ask of it.
I've typed this entire site with it and the next 10,000+ pages I write and code with be done with it too.
I also use it for my programming - it is happy to save in a dozen formats, including Unix, Mac and PC file formats for .txt thru .html and into the lands of .cpp, .tcl, .java and pop!talk.

I'm still using 3.2.5 but I will be upgrading to v4.1 (was released on the 17 Nov 99) as it has a number of enhancements including html validation, which is nice. A year on I'm still happy with 3.2.5, but hey, I'm *old*

Naturally all the essentials are there like wordwrap and macros, plus it has an excellent spellchecker. The new version offers add-ins including French, Spanish, Norwegian, Finnish and Portuguese.
