RPG Introduction
In ages past - ere the rise of computers - I learnt to raise a bow, in accordance wyth the law of these lands.
As is the way of my people, I also learned the Taroc and the calling of those before and those beyond beyond.
So is came to pass, as was writ in the lost scrolls of Ackadia that the Lords Tolkien, Howard and Gygax, with many minions, began to pave the way for magics return to the lands in the new age that approaches.
My prime interest is the Forgotten Realms of Toril, but just as happy with MERP's, Warhammer, Tunnels & Trolls, Palladium etc…
No, I don't do the space age stuff! And yes, I really was taught to read Tarot and use a long bow at a very early age!
To come, eventually…
Gamers liking a bit of authenticity might like to take a stroll though the Gems section in the reference area. It includes tables for Forgotten Realms gem prices and far far more.
The Realms begin to take shape…
I want it to be a epic. I am quite capable of doing this myself, but it'll be far more fun with input.
And so Ackadia is born!
Here's the setting, a huntress is all alone in a primeavil forest, somewhere near the Sword Coast. She is armed only with a crude spear. Orcs have slain her husband and daughters. Right about now, the spear is more than enough…
What happens next…
I was designing a pseudo-live (Forgotten Realms) fantasy village
This will evolve with time. Initially, a maid on a bloodquest, then companions, an Inn, then perhaps a wood-cutter, a small shrine and so on. But it will live and breath. The tavern keeper, the blacksmith, the furrier can be YOU. I'll flesh out the details in the coming few weeks, but generally it's up to the interest generated by YOU.
As it happens, I got far more involved with MUDS and to be honest got very little input so I've shelved the idea for now. It's still got potential, but I need to think about it a lot more.
Here's a very rough example:
- Folk help maid on blood-quest. (email wishes and intro "Wood-cutter (Fighter) meets…", "Mage searching for rare herb…")
- The Inn opens of a minor trade road on the Sword Coast. (email wish to build Inn)
- A wandering trader visits (emails wishes)
- A Cleric drops in (emails wishes / comments)
- Ranger drops by (emails warning about a minor evil)
- Cleric does his / her bit with a big club and opens a shrine (emails wish to be a part of things).
- So it grows.
I'll handle all the HTML design - artistic input greatly would be nice - and let it evolve. It will, hopefully, read like a story. Click on the Inn to enter and follow the options. et al.
A long time ago I wrote a number of "play by number" RPG's. When I get chance, in the coming months, I will convert these to HTML and put them on this site.
The stories are:
- Xerxe's Charge - Adventure through towns, woods and tombs to gather ingredients for a herbal cure.
- Dragonquest - A dungeon trawl, the object of which is to rescue a Dragons egg
- Laurin's Legacy - Retrieving a magical suit of dwarven armour
The story are 500, 400 and 200 pages / sections / events long respectively and were originally written nearly twenty years ago for the long vanished "Proteus" magazine and the Penguin "Fighting Fantasy" series by Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson (of Games Workshop fame.)
In the meantime, here's a little fantasy crossword I wrote in HTML. Really needs to be done in java for the internet, but enjoy all the same.

Dungeon & Dragons. By now you'll seen it, bought it on DVD and seen it on satellite, but still a good film
Dragonlance the Movie
[ See also the DragonlanceŽ Movie Site ]
This is an unofficial forum for the discussion of news, rumours, gossip relating to movies based on TSR's DragonlanceŽ fantasy gaming world, brought to life in the novels of Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, and other authors.
The site also mentions a second 'Dungeons and Dragons' movie.
Personally I liked the first one, even if it did get slated, so I'll be happy if I see another
Lord of the Rings
It your like me, which is likely else you wouldn't be reading this page, you'll have seen the first two installments and be drooling in anticipation of the finale this December, 2003. There are rumours of a Hobbit one to follow.
(2001) Hasbro swallows a Wizard
For everyone who hasn't already heard, Wizards of the Coast, who bought TSR a few years ago, was just bought by Hasbro for
$325 million.
