As English is very important, this will be comprehensive, maybe even covering the likes of oxymorons and third person indicative and such.
Links
It has been a long time since I truly sat up and said "Blimey (or words to that effect), that's impressive!" about a website and really, REALLY meant it, but here's one:
Capital Community College's Guide to Grammar and Writing and Principles of Composition.
I was looking for something to teach my kids the proper use of apostrophes....
What I found is an almost, in not, a definitive guide to good grammar. The list is exhaustive and includes, to name but a few:
Abstract nouns, adverbs, apostrophes, gerunds vs infinitives, subjunctives and transitive verbs.
Their interactive online quizzes are also essential viewing in my books. Can't recommend this educational site enough!
- Oracle's database expert Lexicon
- University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have some great English language and writing resources, articles etc.
- Common Problems of English Grammar & Punctuation
- Ancient Scripts
Contrary to the name, it's not all about scripts or even fonts but languages and phonics and way more. I seriously recommend you take at least one look at this site.
If you are an English lecturer or a student at Advanced level or above then this site is a godsend. Really, bookmark it now!
Glossary
