22nd August 2006: Easy surgery.
*** Diary index ***
A good day all in all
Was set for an afternoon slot for surgery which would have crippled me (I'm really, really uncomfortable with 'Nil by mouth'). Fortunately I was rescheduled to the first slot at 9am. Phew!
Amazingly it was over so fast I was awake and conscious without even realising I'd been put to sleep under general anesthetic. Equally surprising was the fact I awoke with no pain or discomfort at all after the surgery, barring the inevitable raw throat from the air tubes.
I did have a bowl of soup for lunch which was returned, with interested
but after that and a couple of paracetamol I was fine. Obviously I'm still not fully recovered but my blood results continue to improve and I can genuinely say I feel better now than I have in many months.
Mum come up at night with a much appreciated Kenko coffee. I'd just been saying to Peter, the patient in the next bed, that it is rather ridiculous that you can get a drink with your evening meal - about 5pm - then you can't get another warm drink until after 10pm at night. Sorry, but being told you have a jug of tepid, chemically treated tap water if you are thirsty just doesn't cut it with me!
Now I'm relatively mobile again (read tottering about) I shall start seeing about a mid evening drink from now on!
