23rd September 2006: Surgically implanting stents
*** Diary index ***
Doesn't sound that bad…
Louise and the kids visited at night. Just before they left one of the urology surgeons turned up to explain the procedure. Far easier (less messy) than I thought. Essentially they use a fibre optic camera to explore the area and then implant plastic stents into the blocked ureters to sort the problem. I will be under anesthetic too, which is a relief as I REALLY didn't fancy the idea of been probed with a camera under a local - not the route that thing was taking, hell no!
Of course, a few months now the line I have to have them removed to see how it goes, but things look promising
c.f.: 'Cystoscopy' and 'bilateral stent insertion'
[ A few months down the line and there seems to be no record of me needing the stents touching. Really getting antsy about this now as I was told early January and I've heard nothing, and I'm getting all the symptoms back again. Sorted out getting some tests done myself. If my the blood results show elevated toxins I'll scream at the beggers ]
The idea of permanent kidney failure and it's many associated problems dosesn't appeal to me, funnily enough! Actually, having seen what everyone here is going and hearing the inevitable horror stories, it REALLY isn't something I want to face.
