My Canon shopping list
After a lot of consideration I think I will change to Canon for my cameras. There are a few solid reasons for this. Firstly, for international photo libraries, you ideally want the 50Mb tiff's that the Canon's 16Mpixel offers. Nikon's DX2 is close, but no cigar. Secondly and very importantly, Nikon's 600mm lacks an image stabilizer. Finally, though this can can go either way, the Canon 1Ds is full frame CMOS. For scenic it gives you a 50% wider angle. However, for telephoto the Nikon's is relatively 50%. As I say, swings and roundabouts. Nikon +600mm gives to a 900mm equivalent. With the full frame 600mm is still 600mm, but the image stabiliser give you three extra stops to play with.
Ho hum. Either that or wait for Nikon to annouce a new range while I save up some. Anyway…
