Submitting your website to the major search engines

This section is a mess, I'll tidy up the pages in a week or so when I go through this directory again
I'll work through the 19 "Other Global Search Engines" at

A little embarrassingly, the comments below are from around (2001, 2002) so I'll have to update them one day. Links are good though. I will try and give the section a full overhaul before year end.
As an aside, I just click a button on the control panel as my ISP now and it does all the work. So much faster!

Back in the day this was one of if not the top search engine and a firm favourite of mine. However, their new submission scheme is a sod too. There is a (better) paid option for businesses wanting the red carpet treatment.
Now ? (Sept 2004) Just shoves you off to Yahoo / Overture.

Add a site.
Goes via the Open Directory Project and is FAR FAR to much like hard work until your are very niche as it forces you to specificy an EXACT category. Fine if you specialise in late 18th century teapots, but absolutely useless for the real work. Perhaps I am jaded ?

As part of the recently announced changes to NBCi, we are no longer accepting Web Site submissions. NBCi has made arrangements with GoTo.com for providing this service.
Now goes to [ Overture ] but looks cleaner for the move.

OK It's supposedly to be added to 400 other sites, but D'uh! I clicked the link to be added specifically to Netscape...

Fast forward to 2004 and simply enter your URL to submit your site to Yahoo
