Introducing the Darkmoon Faire
The Darkmoon Faire is an event that appears in the game and changes venue on a three monthly cycle. It's featured are properly covered on the official site, detailing the Darkmoon Faction
Starting in the early part of the month, the Faire sets up in a field either near Goldshire in Elwynn Forest, in Mulgore at the base of Thunder Bluff or in Terokkar Forest, just outside Shattrath. The timetable for this and other events can be found on the official events calendar.
Setup takes the carnies three days, and the fair starts early that Monday at 4:00am server time, and will remain open for one week.
The Faire itself is neutral and can be visited by players of either faction regardless of location. Strangely, there is no actual benefit or rewards for gaining reputation with them.
Darkmoon Fair Pets
There are three pets available here, the commonest is a Tree frog from Flik, the boy running about. He also sells a better looking (limited availability) Wood Tree frog. Both are one gold.
Far less well known is the Spawn of Jubjub quest from Morja. To get it, put a mug of Dark Iron Ale* in front on her and the huge pet hops up to her. This triggers the quest. In return for a second mug she will give you an unhatched jubling which, after a weeks incubation, gives your very own Jubling frog. If you put these beer in front of your pet it hops up and drinks it!
* You need Dark Iron Ale Mugs from Grim Guzzler in the bar in the Blackrock Depths instance, or AH if you are lucky.

Unsocial behaviour in Darkmoon Faire
(Feb 2008) Specifically I am thinking of anti-social players that camp and block NPC's, particularly at events like neutral events like the Darkmoon Fair. It is, of course, against the rules and terms and conditions and, according to one GM I spoke too, increasingly becoming a problem.
Not sure what I mean? Here's one or two examples, like this Horde druid blocking Lhara. What you can't see is the player also had pvp on to actively deter alliance from even trying to interact with the trader. You can't even see the trader - or even the undead Horde, also with pvp enabled, also sat over the vendor. Here's another shot, also taken at Mulgore with two or three Horde - again with pvp enabled - blocking the traders while mounted. The static image doesn't show it but they were also spinning in a circle and using emotes like /shoo.
That's the problem, but what is the solution?
- Forced dismounting in the zone
- Elite guards / bouncers as applicable, as they do in neutral towns
- Create a small barrier zone / breathing space around the character.
The first two are obvious enough, the second needs a little explaining and may not even be possible to impliment, not in practical terms. Need to consider this last point further.
